How to Find Your Windows 10 Computer’s IP Address Using Command Prompt
You can use Command Prompt to find the Internet Protocol (IP) address of your computer. The Command Prompt is a text-based interface that gives you access to more advanced tools than the basic Windows interface. It’s particularly useful for troubleshooting and accessing low-level system settings.
To open the Command Prompt, press the Windows key + R, type “cmd,” and press Enter. The Command Prompt will open.
To find the computer’s IP address, type:
ipconfig
To see the IP address, press Enter. You’ll see the IP address next to “IPv4 Address.”
If you see “Ethernet adapter Wi-Fi” instead of “Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection,” your computer is connected to the internet through a Wi-Fi connection. In this case, you’ll need to find the Wi-Fi IP address.
To find the Wi-Fi IP address, type:
ipconfig /all
To see the Wi-Fi IP address, press Enter. You’ll see the IP address next to “Wireless LAN adapter Wi-Fi.”
You can also open Command Prompt, type “ipconfig,” and press Enter. You’ll see the IPv4 address next to “IPv4 Address.”

If you’d rather not use Command Prompt, you can use a third-party application. There are several free applications that you can use to find the Internet Protocol (IP) address of your computer. One option is NirSoft’s IP.
To use IP, download and install the application. Once it’s installed, open IP. You’ll see a text field where you can type the computer’s IP address.
To find the computer’s IP address, type:
ipconfig
To see the IP address, press Enter. You’ll see the IP address next to “IPv4 Address.”
To see the Wi-Fi IP address, type:
ipconfig /all
To see the Wi-Fi IP address, press Enter. You’ll see the IP address next to “Wireless LAN adapter Wi-Fi.”
