You should know that your iPhone’s call blocking feature is pretty powerful. It allows you to block unwanted calls, as well as texts and FaceTime calls from individual numbers and unknown/private numbers. This article will show you how to block calls and texts from a specific contact and block calls, texts, and FaceTime from unknown/private and unknown numbers.

Block Calls
The easiest way to block a contact is to simply add them to your blocked list. This will block all calls, texts, and FaceTime from that contact. You can also block unknown and private numbers. For example, you can block all unknown/private numbers, but still receive calls from your contacts list.
- Open your Settings Scroll down and tap on Phone
- Tap Call Blocking & Identification Under Blocked Numbers, tap Add New Number
- Tap Blocked Enter the number that you want to block Tap Block Phone numbers with international prefixes will not be blocked (i.e. +1-234-567-8901) Tap Block again to confirm
- If you want to block messages from a specific number, tap Messages and enter the number you want to block
- Tap Block Messages/Block Confirm your choice
- To unblock a number, tap on Edit in the top right corner Tap on the number you want to remove, and tap Unblock Confirm
Block FaceTime
You can also block FaceTime calls and texts from a specific contact. This option is only available if you have a contact saved for that number.
- Open your Settings Scroll down and tap on Phone
- Tap Call Blocking & Identification Under Blocked Numbers, tap Add New Number
- Tap Blocked Enter the number that you want to block Tap Block FaceTime Tap Block FaceTime numbers with international prefixes will not be blocked (i.e. +1-234-567-8901) Tap Block again to confirm
- To unblock a number, tap on Edit in the top right corner Tap on the number you want to remove, and tap Unblock Confirm
Block Unknown/Private Numbers
Finally, you can block unknown and private numbers. This is a good feature to have – you can choose to allow calls from your contacts, and block everything else. This way you can keep your personal number private, but still be able to get in touch with your business partners and clients.

- Tap Call Blocking & Identification Under Blocked Numbers, tap Add New Number
- Tap Blocked Enter the number that you want to block Tap Block Unknown/Private Tap Block Unknown/Private numbers with international prefixes will not be blocked (i.e. +1-234-567-8901) Tap Block again to confirm
- To unblock a number, tap on Edit in the top right corner Tap on the number you want to remove, and tap Unblock Confirm
